Patricia Tovar is Full Professor at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland and her B.S. from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Tovar has been an Assistant Professor at Brandeis University, an Economist at the Central Bank of Peru, and a Consultant for the World Bank. Her primary research interest is in international trade, with emphasis on political economy and trade policy. Her recent work and current research focus on the political-economic determinants of trade policy, the choice of inefficient redistribution policies in international trade, trade liberalisation and preferential trade agreements.
